The company was set up in 2020 in order to:
Assist and Support local people who are marginalised, discriminated against, disenfranchised and who experience deprivation, poverty and the impacts of the Climate Emergency.
Raise awareness about all aspects of social deprivation and alienation with particular focus on solutions : access to fresh food, mental well being and arts based multi generational community gatherings.
Work in partnership with other grass roots organisations that share our values as well as statutory agencies that provide services to those who suffer most in our community.
Increase understanding of how to operate a carbon neutral business using green tech and working with Nature.
Mission statement
Ro Dama Farm CIC endeavours to demonstrate and promote a carbon neutral approach to all its work, improving bio diversity, soil and plant health, food quality and better health outcomes for all by working in harmony with Nature.
Our mission is to include local people who have direct experience of social exclusion and deprivation and of poverty in all its forms to develop a network of individuals, families and organisations that works towards ending poverty and exclusion as well as solutions to the impacts of the Climate Emergency.
We work to enable and facilitate personal and societal transformation to regain food sovereignty, enable sustainable positive mental health and reconnect our fractured communities through a shared experience of the Arts.
Project Objectives
To set up and maintain a year round organic fresh food source available to local people suffering from food poverty.
To set up and maintain regular educational/ development opportunities for local people to learn about and practice food production and foraging skills.
To set up and maintain regular educational/ development opportunities for people to learn about and practice locally valuable employment skills.
To establish and maintain a regular programme of creative community gathering events showcasing local artistes aimed at nurturing a sense of connection and joy.
To set up and maintain regular educational/ development opportunities for people to learn about and engage with natural holistic healing processes to empower people to more positive mental and emotional health.
To develop partnerships with other organisations and contribute to a food redistribution network to ensure that the people most in need receive the food we grow.
To respond to what local people want by listening and taking action together. Identifying the full spectrum of assets that we have within our networks to develop our community in a way that makes sense for a healthy co produced sustainable future.
To establish a range of activities and projects that address the needs of those in poor mental health , in food poverty or in social isolation.
To set up and maintain access to wild Nature for local people wishing to detoxify from a digitally driven urban lifestyle.
To demonstrate the potential of running a business entirely on renewable energy, showcasing green tech and business practice.
Our current leadership team comprises experts within their field that add value and experience to the development of the project. Among the four directors are a senior health practitioner, an experienced land manager and highly skilled carpenter, an expert forager and local wildlife enthusiast and a further education teacher and gardener.
